HOW DO YOU MIX CBD OIL WITH E-LIQUID?
It’s a common question in the vaping world, and there are plenty of people wondering the same thing so if you’d like to find out more about CBD oil and mixing it with e-liquids for vaping, read on.
The TL;DR is: don’t mix actual CBD oil with e-liquid. You can get pre-mixed CBD vaping liquid or prepare your own e-liquid using CBD isolates. Also, nicotine eliminates CBD, so don’t add it to your e-liquid.
What is CBD oil?
CBD is short for cannabidiol, a chemical compound from the cannabis Sativa plant, also known as cannabis or hemp. CBD is naturally occurring, and the oil can be found in a lot of products that promote relaxation.
CBD oil is usually a drop that you put on or under your tongue, for example, to release the CBD. Oil is not suitable for vaping or inhaling and should not be used in this way at all.
Though a close cousin of the more infamous delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC (the psychoactive agent of marijuana), CBD is not psychoactive. This means that CBD does not make you high. Though different for everyone, CBD is reported to be relaxing, calming, and though widely disputed, some other health benefits.
Misconceptions about CBD oil
First off, we should clear up a critical point: CBD oil is not the same as CBD isolates or CBD e-liquid for vaping. CBD oil should not be used for vaping. However, some people mix up the names CBD vape liquid and CBD oil. This can make for a confusing situation.
When purchasing CBD vape liquid, ensure that you are purchasing something designed to be vaped. Or, purchase your own CBD isolates and self-mix your e-liquid to be safe.
Can you mix CBD oil with e-liquid vol 100?
Mixing CBD into your vaping e-liquid means that you can inhale the CBD chemical agent directly into your lungs and capillaries, ensuring that the CBD enters your bloodstream faster than the CBD oil under the tongue method. This is particularly useful for those who use CBD for pain relief. You can use your vape kit early in the morning and feel the effects in a third of the time the oil takes.
When considering which e-liquids to mix your CBD isolate with, you should remember that nicotine breaks down CBD, making your CBD vape useless and wasting the isolate. Nicotine free e-liquids are available across the majority of our Zombie Vape store, so don’t worry on that score.
When adding CBD to e-liquid yourself, which is an approach we know many people prefer, you should consider the strength of the resulting e-liquid. When adding CBD isolate, you need to literally weigh up the amount you’re adding to the volume of e-liquid you’re preparing.
Vaping with CBD is one of the most popular methods of consuming CBD. When vaping, the cannabidiol is heated rather than smoked. This preserves many of the properties of CBD that would otherwise be lost.
How to vape CBD e-liquid
Fortunately, if you’re already familiar with vaping, you’re going to be fine vaping CBD, too. It’s basically the same process; you just need to prepare the e-liquid differently than you normally would.
If you’re brand new to vaping with CBD, we recommend going for a lower CBD concentration to get used to the effects before you go further. It’s always important to remember that CBD affects everyone differently, and things such as age and weight can change how you respond to CBD vaping. So don’t necessarily copy your mates if they’re an experienced vaper.
As a guideline, you can try vaping between 2-12mg of CBD per 10kg of body weight. Err on the side of caution and start lower, and you can adjust the content higher if you wish.
What’s in CBD e-liquid?
All e-liquid comes with the same basic ingredients. There are two main ingredients for the main e-liquid medium: PG and VG, or propylene glycol and vegetable glycerine.
Propylene glycol is an odourless, colourless liquid with low viscosity — it’s thin and runny, the opposite of VG — it absorbs heat much faster than VG too, because it’s thinner, and so can be easily turned into vapour for vaping. PG provides the “throat hit” that many ex-smokers desire and doesn’t turn into a thick cloud, but that’s what VG is for!
Vegetable glycerine is an all-natural liquid that is clear and odourless, but has a slight hint of colour. In most cases, VG will have a slight sweet flavour as it’s naturally sweet. It’s very easily told apart from PG though by its viscosity. A thick liquid, VG is what turns into the dense cloud of vapour. As a thicker liquid, you tend to need more power to deliver the vapour.
Most e-liquids will come with a combination of VG and PG, a 50-50 split is advised for your first DIY e-liquid, but experienced vapers will quickly customise their favourite combo of the two.
Other than VG and PG, you’re going to find food-grade flavourings in most pre-prepared e-liquids. When preparing your own CBD e-liquid, you can choose to add flavours, from vanilla, salted caramel, apple, kiwi, strawberry, and citrus to menthol or lilac. The options for flavours are wild and varied, but you don’t have to add flavour at all.
Is CBD vape e-liquid addictive?
No, the properties of CBD are not addictive. There’s no risk of chemical addiction with CBD, and as you cannot add nicotine to CBD e-liquids, or you lose the effect of CBD, you cannot become addicted to nicotine when vaping CBD either.
