From the different components of your vape mod through to the varieties of e-liquid, there can be a lot to get your head around when it comes to vaping.

But not to stress – that’s where we come in! When it comes to e-liquids, you will often hear of two types: VG e-liquid and PG e-liquid. So, what are they?

Both VG and PG are both odourless liquids which create the basis of your vape juice. Flavour is added to each, and they are often combined with nicotine in order to create the finished e-liquid product that you use in your vapes. Each offers slightly different properties, consistencies and sensations when they are vaped.

If you’re looking to find the right vape juice for you and want to learn all about the difference between VG and PG in vape, look no further. Here at Zombie Vapes, we’re explaining the properties of each, so you can enjoy the right vaping experience for you.

What is VG in vape?

Often when looking at vape liquids you will see or hear the term ‘high VG vape juice’. So, what does this mean?

VG liquid is officially known as ‘vegetable glycerin’; a natural liquid created from vegetable oils. The resulting liquid is viscous, which gives the vapour a thicker sensation. This makes VG vape juice a firm favourite for those looking to produce a lot of vapour and a thicker cloud.

In terms of hit and flavour, VG e-liquid offers a smooth hit with a naturally sweet taste. As a negative, however, the thickness of VG vape juice does mean it can clog up coils more frequently than alternatives, so if you’re using a high VG vape juice make sure you’re keeping on top of cleaning your vape tank

What is pg in vape?

The alternative to high VG vape juice is a high PG option. Standing for propylene glycol, PG vape juice is a by-product of petroleum.

Less viscous than its VG counterpart, PG vape juice produces less vapour and also offers a different sensation when inhaled. PG e-liquid brings a sensation to the throat that many say is similar to the sensation of smoking tobacco. For this reason, many making the transition from smoking to vaping opt for a PG vape juice.

PG vape juice is also great for carrying and holding flavours, meaning it is the common choice in a lot of vape concentrates.

What are VG/PG ratios?

It is rare when choosing your e-liquid that you will find an option that is pure VG or pure PG – usually, you will find a combination of the two, with the strength displayed as a ratio.

A standard PG/VG ratio is 50/50, which is an equal balance of the two options and offers a good combination of both VG and PG benefits. For a higher VG option, a common ratio is 70/30 VG/PG while similarly many opt for 70/30 PG/VG if they’re looking for a higher PG juice.

So, PG vs VG – which vape juice should you use?

When trying to decide between high VP and PG vape juice, it isn’t a matter of which is best – it is purely a choice of personal preference. If you’re looking for a smoother sensation or to produce a large amount of vapour, high VG juice is ideal. However, if you’re looking to replicate smoking with a sharper throat hit and less vapour, a high PG vape juice may be the right option for you.

If you’re still unsure, why not try a variety of VG/PG ratios and see which you prefer? Across the current Zombie Vapes collection, you can explore a variety of e-liquids and vape concentrates, in both high VG and high PG varieties.
