Not enough of a throat hit when I vape

Vaping should be simple and enjoyable—but hiccups happen. The good news is most issues are quick to fix. We’ve put together this handy troubleshooting guide covering the most common vape problems customers ask us about. Keep it bookmarked, and the next time your device plays up, you’ll be back to enjoying your vape in no time.
a weak throat hit usually comes down to nicotine strength/type, e-liquid ratio, airflow, and coil choice. Try these (fastest wins first):
Quick wins (1–3 mins)
-
Tighten the airflow a little. A slightly tighter draw increases velocity → stronger hit.
-
Bump power within the coil’s range (go up in small steps). More heat = more impact.
-
Use a fresh coil/pod. Tired coils mute throat hit.
E-liquid tweaks
-
Increase nicotine (sensibly).
-
For MTL pods: try 10–12 mg freebase or 15–20 mg salt (salts are smoother; freebase hits harder per mg).
-
For DTL/sub-ohm: keep it low (3–6 mg freebase)—higher will be harsh.
-
-
Raise PG content. PG carries throat hit. Aim for 50/50 (MTL). Avoid high-VG (70/30) if you want more bite.
-
Pick punchier flavours. Menthol/mint/ice and tobaccos amplify perceived hit.
Hardware & setup
-
Use an MTL coil/pod around 0.8–1.2 Ω with a narrow bore mouthpiece for a cigarette-like hit.
-
Check wattage range printed on the coil and stay in the middle-upper end for more throat feel.
-
Seal & wicking: mild flooding dulls hit—wipe contacts, don’t overfill, and give 5–10 min after refills.
Technique
-
Mouth-to-lung (MTL): draw into your mouth, then inhale—closer to smoking = more throat sensation.
-
Shorter, firmer pulls (2–3s) rather than long, airy drags.
When to switch gear
-
Ultra-airy sub-ohm tanks are made for smooth clouds, not throat hit. If that’s your goal, move to a tighter MTL kit/pod.
Safety & comfort
-
Step nicotine up gradually to avoid dizziness/nausea.
-
Stay hydrated; PG can feel drier on the throat.
