E-liquid leaking through the airflow of my vape kit/tank

Vaping should be simple and enjoyable—but hiccups happen. The good news is most issues are quick to fix. We’ve put together this handy troubleshooting guide covering the most common vape problems customers ask us about. Keep it bookmarked, and the next time your device plays up, you’ll be back to enjoying your vape in no time.
leaks through the airflow usually mean the coil/tank is flooded or a seal isn’t doing its job. Try these fixes in order:
Quick fixes (2–5 mins)
-
Wipe & strip: Power off. Remove the tank/pod, wipe the base, chimney and device contacts dry.
-
Clear the flood: Hold the tank upside-down over tissue and blow gently through the mouthpiece to push excess e-liquid out of the airflow.
-
Reseat the coil: Pull the coil, check O-rings for nicks/flattening, then push fully home. Replace the coil if unsure.
-
Refill correctly: Don’t overfill; keep the centre chimney clear (for tanks). Close fill ports firmly.
-
Open airflow a touch: Fully closed airflow encourages flooding. Set it slightly open.
-
Shorter, gentler puffs: Chain-vaping long, hard draws can force liquid into the airflow.
Common causes & prevention
-
Overfilling / negative pressure
-
Leave a small air gap at the top. After filling, keep upright for a minute.
-
-
Thin e-liquid (high PG) in airy coils
-
Swap to 50/50 or 60/40 VG/PG for loose/airier coils; very thin juice can seep.
-
-
Worn or damaged O-rings
-
Inspect coil and tank base seals. Replace the coil (or seal kit) if rings look flattened, torn or missing.
-
-
Old/gunked coil
-
Sweet/dark flavours gunk coils and cause flooding. Replace coils more often with those juices.
-
-
Temperature/pressure swings
-
Heat (car/sun) or flights can push liquid out. Store at room temp and keep upright.
-
-
Power too low for the coil
-
Running well below the recommended wattage can’t vaporise intake fast enough → flooding. Stay within the printed range.
-
Pod kits (extra tips)
-
Ensure the rubber fill plug is fully seated.
-
If the pod is repeatedly flooding, try the higher-resistance pod option (e.g., 1.0–1.2 Ω).
When it’s likely a fault
-
Persistent leaking immediately after correct fill and a new coil.
-
Hairline crack in the tank/pod near the fill or airflow.
→ Stop using that tank/pod and replace or contact the retailer with batch details.
Cleanup & safety
-
If liquid gets on battery contacts/USB port, dry thoroughly before use/charging.
-
Recycle leaky coils/pods via electrical waste bins or use your local/takeback scheme.
If you tell me your device/tank model, coil resistance & wattage, e-liquid ratio (VG/PG) and exactly where it’s leaking (base/mouthpiece/ports), I’ll zero in on the cause and give dialled-in settings and juice recommendations.
