There is e liquid build-up around the connections of my vape kit

Vaping should be simple and enjoyable—but hiccups happen. The good news is most issues are quick to fix. We’ve put together this handy troubleshooting guide covering the most common vape problems customers ask us about. Keep it bookmarked, and the next time your device plays up, you’ll be back to enjoying your vape in no time.
A little e-liquid around the connections is common, but too much can cause misfires, poor contact, or gurgling. Here’s how to fix it and keep it from coming back.
Quick clean (2–3 mins)
-
Power off the device.
-
Remove the pod/tank and coil (if removable).
-
Blot everything dry: base of the pod/tank, the coil bottom, chimney, and the device contacts using tissue or a cotton bud.
-
Deep clean the contacts (optional): lightly dampen a cotton bud with isopropyl alcohol (or use a dry one if you don’t have IPA). Wipe the metal contacts and let them air-dry fully.
-
Re-seat firmly: push the coil fully home and click the pod/tank in until secure.
Why it happens
-
Condensation: normal vapour condenses under the pod—light film is expected.
-
Overfilling / loose fill plug: liquid seeps out while in pocket or on its side.
-
Worn O-rings/seals: tiny nicks or flattened seals on the coil/pod let juice escape.
-
Thin e-liquid: very high-PG juices can seep through airy coils.
-
Tight airflow + hard draws: forces liquid into the airflow and out at the base.
-
Old/gunked coil: flooding leads to weeping at the contacts.
Prevention
-
Fill below the max line and keep the center chimney clear (for tanks).
-
Seat the fill plug fully on pods; check it hasn’t twisted.
-
Replace coils/pods regularly; swap sooner with very sweet/dark flavours.
-
Open airflow slightly; take short, gentle puffs with 10–20s between pulls.
-
Use 50/50 or 60/40 e-liquid for loose/airier coils.
-
Weekly wipe-down: a quick clean of contacts keeps performance solid.
-
Avoid heat swings (hot car/sun) and try to store upright.
When to replace parts / suspect a fault
-
You see hairline cracks in the pod/tank.
-
O-rings are damaged or missing.
-
Persistent build-up immediately after a new coil/pod and correct filling—contact the retailer; it may be defective.
Safety notes
-
If e-liquid gets into the USB port, stop using/charging until it’s completely dry.
-
Keep liquid off battery contacts to avoid misfires and corrosion.
-
Recycle leaky pods/coils via electrical waste bins or your local scheme (or use our takeback programme).
