My vape kit is leaking
leaking is usually down to flooding, worn seals, or how the kit’s filled/used. Work through these fixes (fastest first):
Quick fixes (2–5 mins)
-
Wipe everything dry. Remove pod/tank, dab the base, chimney and contacts with tissue/cotton bud.
-
Reseat the coil/pod. Pull the coil out, check the O-rings, push back in firmly until fully home.
-
Empty & refill correctly. Don’t overfill; leave a small air gap. Close any fill plugs properly.
-
Open the airflow a touch. Too tight + hard pulls can flood the coil.
-
Shorter, gentler puffs. Chain-vaping can outpace wicking and force liquid into the airflow.
Common causes & how to prevent them
-
Worn or damaged O-rings/seals
-
Look for nicks or flattened rings on the coil/pod. Replace the coil/pod if in doubt.
-
-
Overfilling / filling technique
-
Fill below the max line; keep the center chimney clear (for tanks). After filling, hold upright for a minute.
-
-
Thin e-liquid (high PG) in airy coils
-
If you’re using a loose/airier coil, switch to 50/50 or even 60/40 VG/PG. Very thin liquids can seep.
-
-
Old or gunked coil
-
Sweet/dark flavours wear coils faster and cause flooding. Replace the coil/pod sooner with those juices.
-
-
Temperature / pressure changes
-
Leaving the kit in a hot car, taking it on planes, or big temperature swings can force juice out. Keep it at room temp; keep upright.
-
-
Condensation (not a real leak)
-
A light film under the pod is normal. Weekly wipe-downs keep contacts clean and performance consistent.
-
-
Cracks in pod/tank
-
Hairline cracks = persistent leaks. Replace the pod/tank.
-
Pod kits
-
Make sure the fill plug is fully seated.
-
If the pod has adjustable airflow, avoid fully closed; it encourages flooding.
-
Rotate between two pods so each can rest/re-saturate.
Refillable tanks (coil-swapped)
-
Tighten, don’t overtighten the coil and base.
-
Close airflow when filling (if possible), then reopen after a minute.
-
If it floods: remove tank, blow gently through the mouthpiece into tissue to clear excess, then refit.
Disposables
-
Persistent leaking from new? Keep it and contact the retailer with the batch/lot; don’t keep using a badly leaking unit.
Safety & cleanup
-
If liquid gets on battery contacts or into the USB port, disconnect and dry thoroughly before charging/using.
-
Keep tissues out of the 510/contacts when reassembling.
-
Recycle leaky pods/coils via electrical waste or your local scheme (or use our takeback).
