My vape kit isn’t working
Vaping should be simple and enjoyable—but hiccups happen. The good news is most issues are quick to fix. We’ve put together this handy troubleshooting guide covering the most common vape problems customers ask us about. Keep it bookmarked, and the next time your device plays up, you’ll be back to enjoying your vape in no time.
“Not working” can mean no power, no vapour, no flavour or no fire. Run through these checks in order:
1) Basics (60–90 seconds)
-
Charge it properly: Use a known-good cable and a 5V/1–2A plug. Look for a charging light or battery icon.
-
Power on: Most kits need 5 clicks on the fire button. For buttonless/auto-draw pods, skip this.
-
Lock status: If it won’t fire, try 3 clicks to unlock or check for a padlock icon.
-
Pod/tank seated: Remove and reinsert until it clicks. Wipe contacts dry.
2) If it fires but no vapour / weak vapour
-
New pod/coil? Prime it: After filling/attaching, wait 5–10 minutes. Take 2–3 gentle primer puffs.
-
Liquid level: Refill/replace before juice drops below the coil ports.
-
Wattage range: Make sure you’re inside the recommended wattage printed on the coil/pod.
-
Airflow: If fully closed, open it a little. Too tight can flood; too open can feel weak—find the middle.
-
Try another pod/coil (the current one may be dead/burnt out of the box).
3) If it won’t fire at all
-
Error/blinking lights:
-
Short/“atomizer” error: Reseat coil, check O-rings; try a new coil/pod.
-
Overheat/low-voltage: Let it cool/charge fully.
-
Time-out: Many devices cut off at 8–10s—take shorter puffs.
-
-
Contacts & port: Clean the pod base and device pins with a dry tissue or cotton bud. If sticky, a tiny bit of isopropyl on the bud, then air-dry.
-
Auto-draw not triggering: Take a slower, steady pull; check the air path for lint—blow gently through the mouthpiece.
4) Liquid in places it shouldn’t be
-
Gurgling/leaking: Clear a flood—remove the pod/tank and blow gently through the mouthpiece into tissue. Wipe the airflow and contacts, then reassemble.
-
USB/charging port wet: Stop using, let it dry completely before charging (battery safety!).
5) Disposables / prefilled pods
-
Disposable DOA/early failure: Keep it and contact the retailer with batch/lot—most replace faulty units.
-
Prefilled pod not hitting: Replace the pod; if brand-new and dead/burnt, it’s likely a dud.
6) Removable-battery mods (18650/21700)
-
Battery orientation: Check +/− in the sled.
-
Age/cycles: Old cells sag—try a known-good cell.
-
Wrap damage/swelling/hot: Do not use—replace or re-wrap as needed.
7) When to assume it’s faulty
-
Won’t power on/charge with multiple cables and plugs.
-
Constant “short”/“no atomizer” with different pod/coil.
-
Overheats while idle or charging.
→ Stop using and contact the retailer under warranty.
Quick best-practice to avoid repeats
-
Stay within the coil’s rated wattage.
-
Leave 10–20s between puffs; don’t chain-vape.
-
Keep the device upright, out of heat/cold, and clean the contacts weekly.
-
Use suitable e-liquid ratio (most pods like 50/50).
